Position Summary The Buyer - Supply Chain is responsible for coordinating and managing the acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment needed to support production operations. This position develops and maintains supplier relationships, processes purchase orders, confirms order accuracy, expedites deliveries, monitors inventory levels, and supports continuous improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain. The Buyer serves internal customers by ensuring material availability while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery expectations. Key Responsibilities Purchase raw materials, components, supplies, and equipment to support production requirements. Process and maintain purchase orders through the MRP system and other inventory control methods. Communicate orders to suppliers and confirm receipt, pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules. Track open orders, manage back orders, and expedite shipments to minimize production disruptions. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and support vendor rationalization initiatives. Monitor supplier performance and maintain supplier ratings and performance records. Coordinate with internal departments to support new product launches and operational needs. Analyze inventory levels and ordering requirements to ensure material availability. Support forecasting activities by communicating production requirements and demand forecasts to suppliers. Assist with supplier lead-time reduction initiatives and stocking agreements. Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and corrective action plans when necessary.
