Landmark Medical Center is a 214-bed acute care hospital in Woonsocket, RI. The hospital has been “A”rated for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group and has received numerous Healthgrades awards for patient safety excellence, heart care, and orthopedics. Originally known as the "Woonsocket Hospital," Landmark Medical Center has been serving the communities of northern Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts since 1873. 24hrs/week

8:00am - 4:30pm

Responsibilities

Conducts a therapeutic recreation program within the hospital to facilitate rehabilitation of the physically and mentally disabled. The Activity Therapist directs patient participation in selected activities such as games, social activities, sports or music to create an atmosphere of sociability, to provide a means of creative expression and to facilitate the learning skills for recreating during hospitalization and after discharge in the community. Creates an environment that allows the patient to explore their own potential, cultivate positive morale and minimize distress of illness. Monitors patient behavior and unit surroundings to help maintain a safe, therapeutic and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Recreation Therapy or Art Therapist or Expressive Arts Therapy or related field.2. Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Registered Therapeutic Recreator (RTR) preferred.3. Minimum one (1) year experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitative or SNF setting preferred.
