Full job description

Under the direction of the Division Director of Women’s Mental Health services,

  • Supervises the mental health staff for the provision of services to the inmate population.

  • Leads program development and implementation within assigned institution.

  • Supervises quality mental health professionals & mental health officers in the provision of mental health services.

  • Conducts regular audits of clinical services and provides clinical supervision & needed training to support the MH team in meeting compliance standards.

  • Ensures provision of quality mental health services.

  • Manages a smaller caseload to include client assessment, treatment planning, individual & group therapy, case management & discharge planning.

  • Provides and supervises crisis intervention and risk assessments for self-harm behaviors, suicidal & homicidal ideations.

  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with other institutional staff to enhance institutional safety.

  • Leads weekly interdisciplinary treatment team & participates in meetings.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program. SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A master's degree in clinical social work, counseling, or related degree and two (2) years of experience in counseling.

  • Must be licensed as an LPC-A, LPC, LMSW, LISW, or LMFT or higher

OR

  • Have comparable out of state licensure with eligibility for SCLLR license which must be obtained within 6 months.

Prefer LPC, LPC-S, LISW-CP-S, LMFT, or LMFT-S license.
