Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and checks patients prior to Imaging procedure, may assist with scheduling of patients as needed.

  • Acquires patient questionnaire, chart, data/requisition and reviews all to determine contraindication of having Imaging examination.

  • Verifies and validates patient screening safety form.

  • Performs venipunctures, draws specimens and maintains competencies.

  • Ensures patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. Educates patients regarding Imaging procedures, equipment and exam.

  • Serves as a resource/preceptor to new hires, other technologists and students.

  • Administers proper contrast related to patient having Imaging exam.

  • Acquires, archives, transmits and prints images via PACS. When applicable, completes after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.

  • Immediately reports any malfunctions; observes potential equipment dysfunctions and reports problems or calls for service.

  • Maintains available equipment up-time. Applies knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to limit radiation exposure of the public, patients, fellow workers and self to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).

  • Learns new technical information and skills.

  • May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.

  • Immediately reports any malfunctions; observes potential equipment dysfunctions and reports problems or calls for service.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education :

Assoc. Degree/College Diploma Completion of course work with an accredited institution in one of the imaging modalities (ie. Ultrasound, Radiologic Technology, MRI) required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required

  • Imaging Registered Rad Tech certification with relevant accrediting body (ARRT, ARMRIT, ARDMS) required

  • Imaging CA Radiologic Tech Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)- CA State License. required

  • Fluoroscopy License required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years minimum two years experience as an imaging technologist

  • 1 year minimum one year experience in each relevant modality
