Job Description

Our client is seeking a Hazardous Waste & Shipping/Receiving Technician to support environmental compliance, waste management, and warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment. This individual will be responsible for tracking and handling hazardous waste, maintaining regulatory documentation, coordinating waste disposal activities, and serving as a backup for shipping and receiving operations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with production, laboratory, EH&S, and warehouse teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage hazardous waste collection, storage, treatment, and disposal activities while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate waste tracking records, manifests, treatment logs, and regulatory documentation.
  • Conduct routine inspections of waste storage and accumulation areas to ensure proper labeling, containment, and housekeeping standards.
  • Coordinate waste pickups with approved vendors and communicate waste trends, volumes, and compliance concerns to facility leadership.
  • Serve as backup support for Shipping & Receiving operations, including receiving materials, processing inventory transactions, and preparing outbound shipments.
  • Verify shipments, maintain inventory accuracy, and complete required shipping documentation, including hazardous materials paperwork when applicable.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain organized, safe, and compliant warehouse, shipping, and receiving areas.
  • Collaborate with production, laboratory, EH&S, and warehouse teams to support daily operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere to all company policies, quality standards, ISO requirements, and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Support production and other operational activities as needed to contribute to a high-performing team.

Pay: $22-$35/hr

Skills and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in hazardous waste management, warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, or a related environment.
  • Basic understanding of hazardous waste handling and environmental regulations preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift and material-handling equipment certifications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry, inventory management, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple departments.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver containers and materials safely.
  • Technical or vocational training in environmental science, logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of RCRA regulations, hazardous waste labeling, accumulation requirements, and secondary containment practices.
  • Prior experience in chemical manufacturing, industrial operations, or environmental services.
