This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems, operating equipment, and supporting environmental compliance and remediation projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental investigation, monitoring, compliance, and remediation projects under the supervision of project scientists, engineers, geologists, and technical staff.

  • Perform environmental field sampling activities, including groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, soil gas, waste, air, and other environmental media.

  • Conduct remediation system inspections, monitoring, operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting activities.

  • Collect field data and maintain accurate field notes, chain-of-custody forms, and project documentation.

  • Assist with subcontractor oversight and coordination of field activities, including drillers, surveyors, and other service providers.

  • Support equipment operation, maintenance, calibration, and organization of field supplies.

  • Package and ship environmental samples according to established procedures.

  • Assist with data entry, project documentation, logistics coordination, and reporting support.

  • Utilize field instruments, meters, GPS units, mobile data collection applications, and other technical equipment.

  • Follow established health, safety, and environmental procedures and actively support Jacobs' commitment to safety.

  • Communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to support successful project execution.

  • 2-4 years of environmental, technical, industrial, remediation, construction, field, laboratory, or related experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to perform fieldwork in industrial environments and wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator when required.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift and carry field equipment and sample coolers weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain certification.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

  • Ability to participate in required drug and alcohol screening programs, including hair follicle testing.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% as required by project needs.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Ideally, You'll Also Have

  • Associate's degree in a relevant technical or scientific field, or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • Relevant fields may include Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Construction Technology, Piping Technology, or similar technical programs.

  • Experience with environmental sampling, monitoring, or field data collection.

  • Experience with environmental remediation systems, including operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience supporting environmental, industrial, construction, utility, or remediation project sites.

  • Experience gained through internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, laboratory work, construction projects, industrial operations, technical training programs, or other hands-on technical roles.

  • Experience completing field logs, inspection forms, chain-of-custody documentation, and technical reports.

  • General equipment operation, troubleshooting, or maintenance experience.

  • Subcontractor oversight experience.

  • First Aid/CPR certification.
