Position Summary: JMT is seeking an Electrical Engineering Student entering their Junior or Senior year. The position will be responsible for various tasks and projects to enhance their experience in the field utilizing their education. The intern will be a member of our growing Facilities MEP Engineering practice in the Hunt Valley, MD office. The intern will be asked to work closely with engineering employees to carry out an array of assigned tasks. The tasks will range from data entry, making changes to existing engineering drawings to design of small engineering projects in addition to documentation and field support of Commissioning activities. Other duties include, but are not limited to, assembling data and assisting with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals; utilizing computer programs to solve engineering problems; assisting with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects, specification development or preparation, technical evaluation of equipment and material, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Compensation for this position is $22.00-$27.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Enter data into systems

  • Make edits and updates to existing engineering drawings and projects

  • Coordinate new small-scale projects

  • Assemble data and research

  • Assist with administrative duties

  • Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals

  • Assist with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects

  • Evaluate equipment and material

  • Maintain accurate and current project documentation

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Full time student in engineering; Equivalency of a Junior or Senior status from an ABET Accredited mechanical engineering degree program

  • Ability to successfully function in a fast paced cooperative team environment spanning across multiple offices

  • Desire to participate and excel with a broad range of project types, roles, customers and tasks

Workign Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
