Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and coordinate design criteria, basis-of-design documents, calculations, specifications, drawings, equipment selections, and technical reports across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, fire protection, life safety, security, communications, and related facility systems, ensuring technical alignment between electrical and mechanical designs.

  • Provide technical oversight of electrical systems, including utility service, medium- and low-voltage distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, grounding, lighting, controls, and power-monitoring systems.

  • Provide technical oversight of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled-water and refrigerant systems, cooling towers, pumps, piping, ventilation, plumbing, fire protection, fuel systems, and associated controls.

  • Evaluate electrical and mechanical system capacity, reliability, redundancy, energy efficiency, maintainability, and operational risk, and coordinate integrated solutions for new and existing facilities.

  • Serve as a senior technical resource for resilient and high-availability infrastructure, including cooling systems, utility and emergency power, UPS systems, generators, building automation and controls, fuel systems, and other critical equipment.

  • Manage engineering activities from programming and conceptual design through construction, startup, commissioning, turnover, and closeout, ensuring solutions satisfy client requirements, applicable codes, safety expectations, quality standards, schedule, and budget.

  • Coordinate internal disciplines, architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, commissioning providers, operations personnel, and authorities having jurisdiction to resolve technical interfaces and support constructability, maintainability, operability, and phased implementation.

  • Develop and manage scopes of work, requests for proposals, bid packages, technical clarifications, proposal evaluations, contractor recommendations, and contract exhibits; support procurement and vendor selection for engineered systems and equipment.

  • Lead project planning and controls activities, including engineering budgets, schedules, resource plans, risk registers, decision logs, change management, document control, progress reporting, and technical communications.

  • Perform and document design reviews, constructability reviews, value engineering, code compliance reviews, field observations, submittal and shop drawing reviews, requests for information, punch-list activities, and verification of corrective actions.

  • Provide construction administration and field engineering support; monitor contractor performance and installation quality and verify that work is completed in accordance with approved documents, project requirements, and safe work practices.

  • Support commissioning and turnover by reviewing test procedures, participating in functional performance testing, resolving deficiencies, verifying training and documentation, and coordinating record drawings and operations and maintenance information.

  • Conduct facility assessments, due diligence, condition evaluations, capacity studies, reliability and redundancy reviews, and investigations of existing systems; prepare prioritized recommendations, conceptual solutions, implementation plans, and order-of-magnitude cost estimates.

  • Provide owner’s representative and operational support services, including technical troubleshooting, incident and root-cause investigations, emergency response coordination, vendor oversight, and planning for repairs or upgrades in active facilities while minimizing operational risk and disruption.

  • Maintain accurate project and asset records for critical systems, equipment, controls, wiring, cabling, and infrastructure modifications.

  • Build trusted client relationships, identify follow-on opportunities, support proposals and presentations, and continually strengthen relationships with qualified consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and service providers.

  • Mentor engineers and project team members, provide technical guidance and quality reviews, share lessons learned, and contribute to the development and consistent application of Engineering & Construction standards and best practices.

  • 5 years required, 8 years preferred of progressive engineering, design, construction, commissioning, facility assessment, or project management experience; experience with data centers, mission critical facilities, manufacturing, process, utility, or other industrial environments is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems and their interfaces, with technical depth in at least one engineering discipline and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design, construction, commissioning, and operational requirements.

  • Working knowledge of applicable building, mechanical, electrical, energy, fire and life safety codes, industry standards, permitting requirements, and engineering quality practices.

  • Experience leading design reviews, preparing technical documents, administering construction, managing consultants and contractors, and delivering projects within established scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess existing conditions, evaluate alternatives, identify risk, and communicate practical recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • Excellent written, verbal, meeting facilitation, and client-facing communication skills; able to organize work, establish accountability, and drive decisions among diverse project participants.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and project scheduling tools; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination, engineering analysis software, and construction management platforms is preferred.
