Mechanical Project Manager – Commercial HVAC & Plumbing

Job Duties

Manage commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal projects from preconstruction through final closeout.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage multiple projects of varying sizes, schedules, and complexity.

• Develop project budgets, schedules, cost projections, and schedules of values.

• Monitor labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, billing, and overall project profitability.

• Coordinate manpower requirements with the General Superintendent.

• Review plans, specifications, submittals, contracts, and other construction documents.

• Prepare and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, permits, and project documentation.

• Procure materials and equipment while balancing cost, quality, and schedule requirements.

• Coordinate with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, field leaders, and internal departments.

• Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, workmanship, contract compliance, and safety.

• Lead project meetings and provide timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders.

• Support and mentor foremen, journeymen, and other project team members.

• Manage punch lists, commissioning, O&M manuals, warranties, and closeout documentation.

• Maintain strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for future work.

Minimum Education Required

High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant apprenticeship, trade-school training, technical education, or college coursework may be considered in evaluating the candidate’s overall qualifications.

Minimum Experience Required

Minimum of five years of directly relevant commercial mechanical construction experience involving HVAC, plumbing, piping, or sheet metal systems. Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, field labor, materials, subcontractors, and customer relationships is required. Equivalent combinations of field leadership and project-management experience will be considered.

$90,000.00 - $125,000.00 / Annually

Additional Compensation

Eligible to participate in Peterson Sheet Metal’s performance-based company bonus program. Bonus payments are not guaranteed and depend on company performance and applicable program terms. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process.
