This opportunity is well suited for a litigation attorney with a strong background in insurance defense who can independently manage active matters while delivering responsive service to carrier clients. The role offers the chance to handle a broad range of civil defense cases and contribute to a practice that values precision, accountability, and effective advocacy.

This is primarily Remote, with of course some onsite trial/litigation needs as they come.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in a variety of civil litigation matters, including general liability, automobile, liability, premises liability, and construction-related disputes.

  • Manage a docket of insurance defense matters — GL, auto, professional liability, premises, construction defect, and similar.

  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents with a high standard of accuracy and legal analysis.

  • Communicate directly with insurance carriers to provide case updates, strategic recommendations, and reporting that aligns with client expectations and litigation guidelines.

  • Conduct legal research, evaluate liability and damages issues, and develop practical defense strategies tailored to each matter.

  • Appear at hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial proceedings as needed to advance case objectives.

  • Manage deadlines, billing entries, and file activity in a compliant and organized manner while maintaining strong client service standards.

  • Use legal research, case management, and carrier billing platforms to support efficient matter handling and documentation.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

  • Active attorney license in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, or another applicable jurisdiction.

  • At least 3 years of civil litigation experience with a primary focus on insurance defense matters.

  • Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, discovery materials, and other case-related filings.

  • Experience working with insurance carrier clients and adhering to carrier-specific litigation and reporting requirements.

  • Trial or arbitration experience, including service in at least a second-chair capacity.

  • Strong written and verbal advocacy skills with the ability to manage multiple matters effectively.

  • Proficiency with legal research tools, case management systems, and accurate time and billing practices.
