Job Summary Mass General Brigham Healthcare at Home is seeking a Senior Director, Referral Services & Business Development to lead referral operations and drive strategic growth across the home-based care continuum. This leader will oversee the Referral Services Center and support enterprise priorities across home health and Healthcare at Home as services expand.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, leading transformation, and enabling scalable growth in home-based care delivery.

Healthcare at Home is a strategic growth priority within Mass General Brigham, reshaping how care is delivered across the system. This Senior Director role sits at the center of that evolution—ensuring strong, efficient referral operations while enabling the organization’s continued expansion.

This leader will directly influence patient access, system performance, and the advancement of home-based care across MGB.

This is a hybrid leadership role with expected regular presence across the Healthcare at Home service territory and the corporate headquarters at Assembly Row in Somerville, MA. Significant travel is anticipated to support provider relationship development, on-site meetings, hospital and partner engagement, and market growth activities.

Key Responsibilities •Lead and manage the division's referral operations to ensure efficient and effective patient flow.

•Develop and implement business development strategies to expand referral networks and enhance hospital partnerships.

•Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and marketing teams to ensure referral processes align with patient care objectives.

•Monitor and analyze referral data to identify opportunities for process improvements and growth.

•Establish relationships with external stakeholders, including physicians, healthcare providers, and business partners, to drive referral growth.

•Oversee the development of marketing initiatives to promote hospital services and expand market reach.

•Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, hospital policies, and industry standards in referral and business development activities.

•Provide leadership and mentorship to teams, fostering professional growth and enhancing overall performance.

•Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on referral trends, operational efficiency, and business development outcomes.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare operations, referral management, business development, or related field (required)
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives (required)
  • Experience in home health, hospice, home infusion, or post-acute care preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational redesign, operational transformation, or enterprise change initiatives strongly preferred

Leadership Competencies

  • Strong data analytics and strategic thinking skills, with ability to translate insights into enterprise action
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence senior leadership and system partners
  • Strong written communication skills, with ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable narratives
  • Proven success leading large-scale change management and organizational transformation
  • Ability to design and implement scalable operating models and workflow redesign
  • Strong executive presence with ability to influence across clinical, operational, and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow referral networks in complex healthcare environments
