Job Duties

The Manufacturing Machine Shop Helper supports production, shipping/receiving and other assigned work by performing a variety of shop duties, including material handling, machine setup assistance, part cleaning, painting, inspection support, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing and machining environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload raw materials and move finished workpieces using carts, cranes, or forklifts.

  • Stage materials and inventory by organizing raw stock and finished goods, verifying counts against packing slips, and staging materials for water works projects.

  • Perform part finishing and painting.

  • Manage scrap and waste by emptying metal chip bins, handling scrap metal recycling, and keeping fabrication areas clear of debris.

  • Maintain quality control standards.

  • Ensure safety compliance across daily tasks.

  • Perform general shop and yard maintenance.

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an inventory documentation system and listing select items for online sale, including photographing products, writing item descriptions, and handling related computer and internet tasks.

Minimum Education Required
