Job Overview

The Africa-China Initiative (ACI) requires a part-time Program Assistant to work closely with the ACI Program Director in managing the ACI’s growing programming. The Program Assistant will organize and advertise events, administer key parts of the grant, facilitate communications with a wide range of collaborators (guest speakers, event co-sponsors), and serve as a liaison between the ACI and various GU administrative offices and partner institutions.

This is a part-time position at 15 hours per week.

Work Interactions

This position reports to the Director of the African Studies Program and works closely with Africa-China Initiative Program Director, and coordinates regularly with staff and faculty in African Studies and other SFS programs and units, including the Asian Studies Program and the SFS Dean’s Office, in particular the SFS finance team and events/communications team.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiency in technologies and applications related to the position, including Google, MS Office, Canva, Mailchimp, and Zoom webinar hosting

  • Website content management (WordPress preferred) and social media experience

  • Strong organizational, time management, and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$19.20 - $28.70

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
