Summary

This position is located in the Government Accountability Office Information Systems and Technology Services, Enterprise Infrastructure Division. As a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) you will be responsible for sustaining the integrity and availability of systems, networks and/or data in support of GAO's IT architecture and business needs.

Duties

As a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN), PT- 2210- 2, your typical work assignments may include the following: Administer and manage physical and virtual environments, including configurations, monitoring, performance, optimization, issue resolution, and lifecycle management. Collaborate with colleagues and system owners on vulnerabilities affecting GAO IT systems; work with functional and system admins to identify, troubleshoot, and remediate vulnerabilities. Collaborate with colleagues to support requirements for customer-facing systems and applications and special customer environments. Provide technical advice and assistance to include troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving issues and problems in response to reported or observed incidents and ensure critical business activities are carried out. Work with federal colleagues and contract support staff to plan, test, and deploy systems and operational updates to IT platforms and customer-facing systems including but not limited to Windows and Linux servers, monitoring and compliance systems, and workstation and desktop operating systems. Serve as a technical analyst for enterprise systems with responsibility for investigating and resolving challenging integration or configuration issues of a wide variety of infrastructure systems including but not limited to Windows and Linux servers, enterprise storage, backup, and archive. You may qualify at the PT - 2 band level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: In addition to the competencies above, applicants at the PT - 2 position must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band CS-I, PT-I, PE-I, AC-III, or GS-11 grade level (or equivalent) in the Federal Service, which has equipped the applicant with the skills and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:performing system monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting identify problems, make diagnoses, and resolving IT issues to ensure operational stability. Conducting vulnerability scanning and supporting investigations into troubleshooting and remediations.
