Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer Video & Audio Systems
Job Description
The Quality Assurance Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of advanced professional audio and video products used across entertainment, broadcast, medical, education, government, military, transportation, and other industries. In this on-site role, you will own all aspects of quality assurance and quality control for video and audio systems, collaborating closely with Engineering and Production teams to verify that products meet stringent specifications before release and shipment. You will establish and improve processes, lead testing and analysis activities, and help drive a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
Responsibilities

Own all aspects of Quality Assurance and Quality Control for video and audio hardware and systems.

Measure, test, evaluate, and document product performance to ensure compliance with customer and internal specifications, including verification, validation, and qualification testing.

Inspect products and perform failure and quality-related analyses using quality and manufacturing principles such as process management, statistical analysis, and human factors.

Use lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and signal generators, to test and troubleshoot products.

Plan the quality workload, including scheduling and charting (PERT/CPM, Pareto, Gantt, etc.), identifying resource requirements and risks, and overseeing execution against the plan.

Lead the resolution of customer and internal product quality issues with a focus on achieving zero defects.

Conduct internal and supplier audits in alignment with ISO 9001:2016 and customer audit requirements.

Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis to develop timely and appropriate responses and alternative solutions to customer product problems and questions.

Generate formal reports, corrective actions, and documentation to communicate findings and resolutions.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives and other quality-related projects that require cross-functional collaboration.

Create, implement, and maintain company policies, procedures, specifications, and end-user documentation related to product quality.

Review and immediately correct documentation when written procedures differ from actual practices.

Advise on and oversee the implementation of product development workflows and production workflows to ensure quality is built into each phase.

Work closely with engineering to address hardware and software concerns or upgrades as needed.

Communicate changes in quality-related policies and procedures across departments in a clear and concise manner.

Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, including phase reviews and transfer phases, to ensure quality standards are met.

Collaborate with supplier quality functions to manage supplier quality assurance and drive improvements where needed.

Perform other quality-related responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
Essential Skills
-
B.S. degree in Quality Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
-
5+ years of hands-on experience in quality assurance and/or quality control of video and audio hardware and systems.
-
Proven expertise in concurrent engineering and process management principles, with the ability to apply these concepts in practice.
-
Solid working knowledge of video-specific test equipment and tools.
-
Strong understanding of complex video and audio issues and the ability to identify and resolve them effectively.
-
Knowledge of high-speed video, audio, and data transmission technologies.
-
Familiarity with digital video formats and specifications, and with products such as video analyzers, video scalers, video matrix switchers, and video walls.
-
Knowledge of test methods, procedures, and equipment used for mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing of products.
-
Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics.
-
Demonstrated ability to identify errors and anomalies in test results and provide detailed, accurate reporting.
-
Experience with ISO-based quality systems, including ISO 9001:2016 auditing and compliance.

Experience with validation and verification activities for complex hardware systems.
-
Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
-
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, particularly in technical environments.

Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize among competing tasks, and meet aggressive timelines.

Strong team collaboration skills with the ability to build productive relationships across departments.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working with Class 1 or Class 2 medical devices in an ISO-regulated environment.

Background in new product introduction (NPI), including phase reviews and transfer phases.

Supplier quality experience, including supplier quality assurance and supplier auditing.

Hands-on experience with IQ/OQ (Installation Qualification / Operational Qualification) processes.
-
Experience with audio-visual systems, fiber optic cables, and PCBAs (printed circuit board assemblies).
-
Experience performing detailed failure analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
-
Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
-
Training or experience in Lean and 5S principles is preferred.

Familiarity with statistical quality tools and techniques, including Pareto analysis and other quality charts.

Ability to analyze a wide range of technical issues and develop practical, effective solutions quickly.

High level of personal responsibility, self-motivation, and drive for continuous professional growth.

Demonstrated willingness and ability to self-learn and adapt to new technology domains.

Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position based in California, working within a dedicated quality team of approximately seven people, including quality inspectors, manufacturing engineering professionals, and a quality leader. You will work closely with engineering, production, and supplier-facing teams on the full range of company products, including new product introduction and existing product lines. The environment is fast-paced, high-growth, and entrepreneurial, with a strong focus on innovation in digital multimedia transmission over fiber. Work involves regular use of laboratory and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, signal generators, and other mechanical, electrical, and environmental test setups. The role may require extended hours at times to meet aggressive project deadlines or to resolve urgent quality issues. The culture emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork in support of high-performance professional audio and video solutions.

This is a Permanent position based out of Torrance, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
