Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join an organization in Kentwood, Michigan. This is a Long-term Contract position requiring onsite support from a hands-on accounting specialist who can quickly contribute to day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate brings strong SAP experience, solid reconciliation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, headquarters partners, and external auditors.

Responsibilities:

• Perform account reconciliations to resolve outstanding items and bring financial records up to date across prior accounting periods.

• Prepare and post journal entries accurately while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.

• Partner closely with onsite finance staff and headquarters-based team members to support ongoing accounting activities and issue resolution.

• Assist with audit-related requests by organizing documentation, answering inquiries, and supporting external auditors during review cycles.

• Use SAP to manage accounting transactions, research discrepancies, and support month-end financial processes.

• Analyze financial data in Excel using functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and macros to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.

• Support corporate and sales tax accounting activities, including transaction review and related documentation.

• Contribute as an individual performer who can independently execute assigned accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.

• Hands-on SAP experience is required for success in this position.

• Strong background in account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger support.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and macros.

• Experience supporting audit processes and working with external auditors.

• Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return-related activities.

• Ability to work onsite in Kentwood, Michigan on a permanent basis.

• Self-sufficient, execution-focused approach with the ability to manage responsibilities with minimal oversight.
