This assignment-based role safeguards the integrity and timeliness of the hotel’s financial operations while partnering with the General Manager and operating leaders to protect profitability, controls, and service delivery. The Bench Finance Director quickly assesses the department, leads and develops assigned associates, and establishes a practical transition plan for the returning or permanent finance leader.

  • Assess the department’s immediate operating condition at the start of each assignment, including staffing, month-end status, cash controls, accounts payable, receivables, payroll, balance-sheet reconciliations, audit readiness, and outstanding owner or corporate deliverables.

  • Lead the timely preparation and review of financial statements, forecasts, budgets, operating plans, cash reporting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and required state and federal reporting.

  • Monitor revenue, labor, and expense trends; identify financial and operational risks; and provide clear recommendations to the General Manager, operations leaders, and Operations Finance.

  • Maintain effective internal controls, segregation of duties, cash-handling procedures, purchasing controls, and approval practices to protect hotel assets and comply with company policies.

  • Partner with department heads to manage expenditures, payroll, labor productivity, purchasing, and forecasted operating costs; challenge variances and support corrective action plans.

  • Support hotel leadership in reviewing sales activity, group business, rate strategy, market mix, and departmental profitability as needed to improve revenue and GOP performance.

  • Maintain productive communication with ownership, auditors, vendors, corporate teams, and property associates as appropriate to the assignment.

  • Create a concise handoff at the conclusion of each assignment that documents key deadlines, risks, open items, department staffing needs, and recommended next steps.

  • Travel to assigned hotels as business needs require; work schedules, assignment duration, and location may vary, including overnight travel and temporary placement away from the associate’s home location.
