Full job description

Role Summary

The Technology Solutions Specialist independently owns business analysis for moderate Pearson Professional Assessments (PPA) system enhancements, product improvements, integrations, operational changes, and reporting/data initiatives. This role partners with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Data, QA, Client Services, Operations, and business stakeholders to understand business needs, define functional and non-functional requirements, document workflows, analyze dependencies, and support delivery readiness.

The Technology Solutions Specialist is expected to manage ambiguity within an assigned product/system area and ensure requirements are clear, actionable, traceable, and aligned to PPA business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements elicitation for assigned initiatives, enhancements, operational improvements, and system changes.

  • Translate business needs into functional requirements, non-functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data mappings, and system behavior documentation.

  • Use approved AI tools to accelerate requirement drafting, stakeholder synthesis, user story refinement, gap analysis, and process documentation.

  • Use AI-supported data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, candidate/client workflow pain points, operational bottlenecks, or reporting insights.

  • Analyze current-state processes and recommend future-state improvements that improve efficiency, candidate/client experience, operational quality, scalability, or data consistency.

  • Evaluate system impacts across Pearson applications, integrations, APIs, data stores, reporting tools, and downstream business processes.

  • Decompose approved requirements into backlog items, user stories, and technical tickets in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Architecture, CX, Data, Security, QA, Operations, and business stakeholders.

  • Facilitate or actively contribute to backlog refinement, data alignment sessions, demos, and stakeholder requirement reviews.

  • Maintain documentation as a single source of truth, including product/process documentation, API or endpoint notes, data mapping, meeting decisions, assumptions, and open questions.

  • Communicate scope, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and requirement decisions clearly to business and technology stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities for process automation, workflow standardization, manual-effort reduction, and improved reporting.

  • Support validation readiness by ensuring requirements and acceptance criteria are clear; QA and business partners remain responsible for primary test execution and UAT.

  • Identify processes for automation or AI-enabled improvement, especially repetitive documentation, routing, summarization, or workflow activities.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and management.

  • Ability to translate business language into clear system requirements and technical implementation context.

  • Working knowledge of system integrations, APIs, data mappings, data validation, and reporting needs.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to facilitate stakeholder conversations and manage competing priorities.

  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to work independently within assigned scope and escalate risks appropriately.

  • Familiarity with Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and release readiness.

  • Practical understanding of information security, data privacy, and operational controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Technology, Data Analytics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Typically 2–3 years of business analysis, business systems analysis, product analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, or technology delivery experience.

  • Experience with Agile delivery, SDLC, Jira/Azure DevOps, Confluence/SharePoint, process mapping, and requirements lifecycle management.

  • Experience with enterprise systems, integrations, APIs, reporting, SQL/data analysis, or operational workflow analysis preferred.

  • IIBA certification, Agile certification, Certification/licensure from a Pearson Professional Assessment partner, IT-related badges, and/or test assessments experience preferred but not required.
