Job Description

Insight Global is look to add a Distillery Controls Engineer to their client’s team, the leading supplier of premium distilled spirits and food ingredient solutions. This person will serves as the technical lead for the facility's Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure, and industrial automation initiatives, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production operations. This individual will lead and support automation projects from design through commissioning, partnering closely with Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and external system integrators to develop control strategies, troubleshoot process and logic issues, enhance operator usability through HMI development, and improve overall system reliability. They will be responsible for programming and modifying control systems, managing DCS maintenance activities including backups, server administration, and system patching, while driving capital projects, budgeting, vendor management, and project execution. Additionally, they will provide technical leadership for process optimization, establish and maintain automation standards, support plant shutdown and maintenance activities, and present project updates and recommendations to plant leadership.

Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience supporting industrial automation, control systems, or process manufacturing environments

  • Hands-on experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) siemens pcs7, Emerson Delta V, HMI development, I/O configuration, and system troubleshooting.

  • Experience configuring, calibrating, and troubleshooting industrial instrumentation and control devices.

  • Proficiency creating and maintaining electrical and control system drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.

  • Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E standards.

  • Experience managing automation and controls projects through implementation and commissioning.

  • Strong understanding of industrial networking, OT infrastructure, virtualization platforms, and cybersecurity best practices.

  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, instrumentation, networking, DCS, and HMI-related issues.

  • Strong communication and project leadership skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across plant operations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline – HUGE PLUS o Associate degree with significant relevant industrial experience will also be considered

  • Experience in distilling, food and beverage manufacturing, grain processing, chemical processing, or other continuous process industries.

  • Experience supporting virtualized DCS environments.

  • Familiarity with SAP and industrial maintenance management systems.

  • Knowledge of NFPA 70B and DISCUS industry standards.

  • Experience evaluating and implementing emerging automation and control technologies.
