Job Description

Job Description A client of Insight Global is seeking an Integrated (Lead) Test Engineer to support the validation of complex warehouse automation and material handling systems. This role is focused on leading and executing integrated system testing across mechanical equipment, controls, and software to ensure performance, throughput, and functional requirements are met prior to customer handoff. This is a hands-on, self-directed engineering role requiring experience with mechanical systems, controls, and end-to-end system validation, including rate and functional testing. The ideal candidate has direct exposure to warehouse environments and understands real-world supply chain and distribution challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated test plans across mechanical systems, controls, and software (WCS/WES)
  • Perform rate testing and throughput validation to ensure system performance meets design specifications
  • Perform functional testing (use case validation) to confirm systems operate as intended across warehouse workflows
  • Validate automated equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, ASRS, and robotics in an integrated environment
  • Test and validate controls systems (PLC-driven systems) and ensure proper system communication and integration
  • Identify, document, and drive resolution of defects across engineering, controls, and software teams
  • Support and help lead system acceptance testing (SAT) with internal teams and customers
  • Coordinate testing activities across multiple vendors and subsystems to ensure full system integration
  • Troubleshoot system issues across mechanical, electrical, and software components during testing phases
  • Act as a liaison between engineering teams and on-site/customer stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout testing

Compensation: $60/hr to $65/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in integrated systems testing, validation, or commissioning (lead experience preferred)

  • Experience testing automated material handling, warehouse automation, or distribution center systems

  • Strong background in:

  • Mechanical systems (conveyance, sortation, automation equipment)

  • Controls/PLC-based systems (testing and validation; programming not required)

  • System integration testing across hardware and software

  • Experience with:

  • Rate/throughput testing and performance validation

  • Functional/use case testing of integrated systems

  • Proven ability to operate as a self-starter with strong ownership and leadership capabilities

  • Experience working in or around warehouse floors and live operational environments

  • Ability to troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains

  • Experience developing and executing test scripts, test cases, and acceptance criteria

  • Comfortable in client-facing situations and communicating system status, issues, and resolutions Experience with:

  • WCS/WES systems and warehouse execution platforms

  • ASRS, robotics, or automated fulfillment systems

  • Familiarity with multi-level testing environments (L1–L4 system testing frameworks)

  • Prior experience supporting or leading customer-facing system acceptance testing

  • Background in large-scale fulfillment, distribution, or supply chain environments

  • Experience working with controls teams or exposure to controls design/integration
