Rush University Medical Center , a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of Neurohospitalist .
Position Overview
The Department of Neurological Sciences at Rush University Medical Center is seeking a dedicated, board-certified/board-eligible Neurohospitalist to join our expanding inpatient neurology team. This position is ideal for a physician passionate about acute inpatient care, rapid triage, and the management of complex neurological emergencies. Candidates will receive a faculty appointment at Rush University, with rank and track commensurate with experience. Clinical coverage responsibilities may include service at the Rush Oak Park campus.
Key Responsibilities

Inpatient Acute Care: Provide expert, timely evaluation and management of hospitalized patients presenting with a wide spectrum of acute neurological conditions, including acute stroke, status epilepticus, encephalopathy, neuromuscular respiratory failure, and central nervous system infections.

Consultative Services: Deliver high-quality inpatient consultation services for various medical, surgical, and intensive care units across the medical center.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside an integrated team of advanced practice providers (APPs), neurology residents, fellows, nurses, physical therapists, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes and throughput.

Academic & Educational Engagement: Teach, mentor, and supervise residents, medical students, and fellows during their inpatient rotations.

Quality & Process Improvement: Participate in hospital quality improvement initiatives, stroke metrics enhancement, and clinical protocols to ensure evidence-based care delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Graduate of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency program.

Fellowship (Preferred): Completion of a fellowship in Vascular Neurology, Neurocritical Care, or dedicated Neurohospitalist training is a plus, though general neurohospitalists with strong acute care backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Certification: Board certified or board eligible in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Licensure: Eligible for an active, unrestricted Illinois medical license and controlled substance registration.

Skills: Outstanding clinical diagnostic skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, knowledge and skills; relevant experience and training; education, certifications, and licensure; primary work location; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role, as well as additional compensation such as sign-on and retention bonuses and relocation allowances . Opportunities for increased compensation based on exceeding productivity targets. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.
Total Compensation Pay Range: $296,000 - $376,000
