Job Title: Production Planner

Job Description

The Production Planner coordinates and optimizes daily production activities for a cabinet manufacturing operation. This role creates and maintains the production schedule, monitors inventory levels, and supports the mill department in achieving efficient, on-time output while minimizing waste.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the mill department to plan and coordinate daily cutting operations for cabinet production.

  • Create and publish a detailed daily production schedule for the production floor, including the required number of cuts per day.

  • Ensure the production schedule is accurately set up and communicated within 4 hours of the shift start.

  • Review and analyze No Demand and Excess Inventory reports to align production plans with current inventory levels and demand.

  • Monitor stock levels and forecast material needs to support uninterrupted production.

  • Track the production process to evaluate production efficiency and identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve throughput.

  • Adjust schedules and plans in response to changing priorities, inventory status, or production issues.

  • Use Excel, including macros and formulas, to manage data, generate reports, and support planning and scheduling decisions.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions to ensure accurate execution of production plans.

  • Accurately recognize and work with letter and number combinations when reviewing inventory, schedules, and reports.

Essential Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of macros and formulas.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to accurately recognize and identify letter and number combinations in reports and schedules.

  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced and often changing production environment.

  • Experience with production planning, production scheduling, or production coordination.

  • Familiarity with inventory management and schedule planning concepts.

  • Understanding of production processes such as general production, inspection, assembly, packaging, and material handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or mill environment, preferably related to cabinet or wood product production.

  • Experience in production planning, supply chain, or inventory management.

  • Hands-on exposure to general labor, forklift operations, and general production activities.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on the production floor.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet scheduling deadlines.

Work Environment

This role is based indoors on a manufacturing production floor within a cabinet-making facility. The environment reflects outdoor temperatures, so it can feel as cold or as hot inside as it is outside due to the manufacturing layout. You will work closely with the mill and production teams in an active, fast-paced setting that involves machinery, materials, and regular movement around the floor. Standard office and production tools are used, including computers with Excel for planning and reporting. Dress comfortably and appropriately for a manufacturing environment where temperatures and conditions can vary.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
