Job Summary and Qualifications

The Tax Compliance group is responsible for preparing and filing the consolidated federal income tax return for HCA Healthcare, Inc. and all state income and franchise tax returns.

Tax Compliance Interns will be assigned specific companies that are contained in our large, consolidated return, and will prepare the full Form 1120 (the federal Corporate Income Tax Return) for these entities, and all associated state income/franchise tax returns.

Interns will participate in full training sessions that are held for full-time staff and are assigned work that is equivalent to staff accountant level.

Interns are assigned a coach, to supplement their training and learning experience.

Tax Compliance offers both a Spring/Summer and a Summer Only internship experience. The work experience in Spring is focused on learning the processes and software to prepare depreciation calculations for federal income tax purposes. Spring interns transition to a full-time schedule in mid-May, when the Summer Only interns join the team, and tax return preparation is fully underway. The summer portion of the internship for all interns ends around the end of July.

We also offer a rotational internship to select interns – meaning interns start the summer with the Compliance team and move to the State & Local Tax (SALT) Research team for a portion of the summer.
