Full job description

Assistant High School Track and Field Throwing Coach Official start date: March 15, 2027 End date: June 12, 2027 The Wayzata High School Track and Field team is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable assistant coach to join our team. Ideally the candidate would have coaching and/or throwing experience. This position will work in tandem with the head coach and additional assistant coaches to motivate athletes, create training plans, attend daily practices, and support at competitions. Ideal Qualifications:

  • Be present every day for duration of practice
  • Knowledge of how to build fitness
  • Ability to motivate athletes
  • Knowledge of running recovery tools, nutrition
  • Encourage and support longer meet days
  • Ensure health and safety of all athletes is monitored
  • Assist in bringing ideas to the team that connect athletes and build community
  • Experience in throwing discus and shot put

Selection Procedure: Position is open only to WEA employees through 10/30/26. If no internal candidates are selected, external candidates will be considered. Position will remain open until filled.

Stipend range is worth $100 - $7,640 for entire season. This position is not benefit eligible.
