Databricks Access & Governance Solution Architect

Job Description

• Lead a Databricks discovery and assessment workstream focused on data access and governance.
• Assess the current environment and develop target-state architecture, recommendations, and deployment patterns.
• Design governance and permission models within Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Design RBAC/ABAC access models and determine how identity groups map to Databricks data and permissions.
• Advise the client on Databricks and Unity Catalog best practices and challenge existing approaches when appropriate.
• Partner with Databricks, cloud, AI, platform, security, and data teams.
• Translate the architecture into a developer-ready backlog and implementation handoff.
• Present recommendations directly to client stakeholders.

Skills and Requirements

• Expert-level Databricks architecture experience.
• Deep, recent Unity Catalog experience.
• Experience personally designing Unity Catalog governance and permissions.
• Experience with RBAC and/or ABAC access-control architecture.
• Recent experience leading discovery/assessment and target-state architecture.
• Understanding of how enterprise IAM integrates with Databricks access controls.
• Strong client-facing communication and consulting skills.
• SailPoint
• Okta / SCIM
• Active Directory / Entra ID
• Data architecture/data modeling experience.
• Databricks platform/infrastructure experience.
• Experience creating POCs, deployment patterns, implementation roadmaps, and developer-ready backlogs.
• Experience in consulting environments.
