Collections Specialist

Description

We are seeking a Temporary Collections Specialist to support a large client in Columbus, OH. This role is 100% outbound collections and will focus on contacting customers regarding past-due balances, researching missed payments, and following up by email to secure payment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, persistent, professional in communication, and highly skilled in Excel.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-volume outbound collections calls to customers regarding overdue accounts.

• Research missed payments, account discrepancies, and open balances. .

• Send professional follow-up emails to customers to obtain payment status and resolve outstanding balances.

• Document all collection activity, customer communication, and payment commitments accurately.

• Work with internal teams to investigate payment issues and reconcile account information.

• Maintain organized records and reporting related to collections efforts.

• Use Excel extensively to track balances, analyze aging, and manage account activity.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Previous collections, accounts receivable, or credit/collections experience preferred.

• Experience in a role focused on outbound collections required.

• Strong research and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify reasons for missed payments.

• Professional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong Excel skills required, including working with spreadsheets, sorting/filtering data, and tracking account details.

• Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of follow-up activity.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
