About this Role

As a Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to caring for children with complex heart disease and cardiac conditions in a high-volume, dynamic heart center.

This is a full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week. Schedule will include six daytime shifts per bi-weekly pay period, with built in hours available for required training, research, meetings, and documentation. Our service is staffed 365 days a year which requires rotating schedules to cover weekends, and holidays.

There is a rotating at home night call requirement with additional compensation for call time.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Managing inpatient pediatric patients with congenital heart disease including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, treatment, and timely documentation.

  • Daily rounding and placing orders on inpatients with cardiologists, fellows, and APP team.

  • Timely response to acute patient changes, support staff needs, and exam results.

  • Educate patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others regarding all aspects of care.

  • Consult and coordinate with other healthcare providers.

  • Continually participate in weekly learning opportunities and committees in order to gain optimal career development and achieve best patient care and outcomes.

  • You may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.

  • Located in the beautiful foothills overlooking Salt Lake Valley, Primary Children’s is the premier children’s hospital of Intermountain Health, and the pediatric specialty teaching hospital for the University of Utah School of Medicine.

  • With more than 10+ specialty service lines at Primary Children’s, the center serves as the only provider of comprehensive care to children and adults with congenital heart disease within the Intermountain footprint.

  • We are a nationally recognized Heart Center program by U.S. News and World Report.

  • Within Primary Children’s Heart Center, there are more than 60+ highly skilled physicians and 30+ APPs who work to treat the most complex congenital heart conditions, and are supported by more than 400 caregivers, including medical assistants, cardiac sonographers, nurses, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, social workers, genetic counselors, child life specialists, and more.

What you’ll bring:

  • Utah license as a Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).

  • Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

  • Utah State Controlled Substance License

  • Federal DEA Certificate II through V

  • PALS and BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers

  • Previous experience with cardiac or inpatient pediatric patients is highly preferred.
