📍 Location: Mankato or Burnsville, Hybrid role. Must be commutable to Mankato or Burnsville location

🕗 Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

💼 Position Overview: CDS Accounting Specialist II

At MRCI, we are dedicated to creating innovative and genuine opportunities for people with disabilities or disadvantages at home, at work, and in the community. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist II to join our CDS Accounting team.

The Accounting Specialist II works closely with Accounting Coordinators and the Controller to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. This role is primarily responsible for billing functions while also supporting payroll, accounts payable, claims processing, and month-end accounting activities.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, customer-service focused, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

🌟 What You’ll Do:

Maintain financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Utilize Microsoft Excel and accounting software to record and analyze financial data

Process and resolve billing, payroll, and claims-related issues

Assist with month-end accounting processes, including:

Payment processing

Credit card reconciliations

Aging reconciliations

Invoicing

Billing activities

Process CDS timesheets and claims accurately and efficiently

Provide backup support for accounting team functions as needed

Assist Accounting Coordinators and the Controller with projects and reporting

Maintain organized accounting files and records

Ensure confidentiality of employee, client, and organizational information

Deliver excellent internal and external customer service

Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education Required

✅ What We’re Looking For/Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree + 1–2 years of accounting/customer service experience

OR Associate’s degree + 3–5 years of experience

Minimum Experience Required

Skills & Abilities:

Extensive experience with Microsoft Office products, specifically excel, and accounting software.

Proficient in 10-key typing and data entry.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and ability to apply this knowledge to work situations.

Must be able to work independently while meeting deadlines for completing multiple tasks.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to communicate ideas effectively, problem solve, demonstrate organizational skills, and multi-task.

Must clear the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services background check.

Preferred Skills

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfortable working with complex spreadsheets and formulas

Experience with medical billing processes

Ability to read and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents

Experience with balancing payment posting
