Full job description

Marana Detention Center | Marana, AZ

$29.40 per hour | Full-time

Responsible for the investigative work, identification and validation of gang members, and conducts detainee investigations. Provides instruction to staff on report writing, crime scene and evidence preservation, gang identification, monitoring of potentially disruptive detainee, and the narcotic prevention program, in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

What you will do

  • Coordinate with staff on the receipt and analysis of gang information.

  • Monitor detainee files for investigative purposes.

  • Compile and analyze data to prepare reports and maintain related records.

  • Respond to emergencies and institution disturbances.

  • Supervise and conduct in-depth investigations of incidents which involve criminal activity within the facility. Establish rapport with federal, state, and local law enforcement.

  • Identify narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia.

  • Utilize proper search procedures to people and property when checking for contraband items.

  • Assess and evaluate the facility’s security requirements; make appropriate recommendations for improvements or modifications to the assistant facility administrator.

  • Oversee the gathering of evidence and testimony. Establish case history of incidents and prepare comprehensive, timely, and efficient reports.

  • Incumbents are required to work overtime, when directed to do so.

What you will need

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years’ experience in an adult correctional or detention environment orrelated field required

  • At least 21 years of age

  • Fluent with speaking, understanding, interpreting, and reading the Spanish language

  • US Citizenship or Lawful US Permanent Resident required.

  • One (1) year prior investigations experience and knowledge of computer software applications, narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia, report writing, and gang related information highly desired.

  • Must successfully complete required preservice training.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
