Job Description

Position Summary:

The Environmental Website & Media Support Specialist will support the US Army Environmental Command (USAEC) Operations Branch at Joint Base San Antonio, TX. They will support USAEC by providing environmental website management and media support services. This will involve a comprehensive approach to ensure effective media coverage using available tools to assist USAEC in day-to-day operations. This will also include media formats that are available to the public.

Full consideration date is 22 October 2026.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Designs, develops, and maintains an environmental media platform that is available to all Army stakeholders and the public.

  • Develops and publishes approved environmental articles and other document types with the intent of informing Army Installations and the public of Command approved important and/or critical information source documents.

  • Collaborates with SMEs and process owners to gather detailed information and produce media products that are seen/viewed by both Army stakeholders and the public.

  • Manages project team in meeting agreement deliverables and maintaining communication with client to ensure agreement compliance.

  • Develops and designs graphics for multimedia projects for print and interactive media, including websites, video, and e-learning modules.

  • Assists agreement and stakeholder teams with planning, developing, writing, revising, and editing content and format for a variety of electronic and printed documents, materials, and publications. Must be familiar with Associated Press style and journalist style writing.

  • Creates and maintains webpages using Concrete5 website content management system or other Army enterprise experience within current army standards.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).

  • Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

  • Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance; required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check.

Supervision:

  • Position does not supervise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field or at least 10 years of applicable experience.

  • Six years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining environmental media.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and maintaining journalistic articles, websites, and other media products seen/viewed by both clients/stakeholders and the public.

  • Experience managing teams, projects, and collaborating with clients/stakeholders to identify deliverable needs and schedules.

  • Experience creating and maintaining webpages using Concrete5 website content management system, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Communication, Journalism, or related field.

  • Experience with Federal agency, Public Affairs, Press, or Media Support.

  • Experience working with or for Army Environmental Command.

Salary Range

105000-125000
