The Role at a Glance

The Training Support Technician I assists the Industrial Program and other emergency service training programs at the TEEX Brayton Fire Training Field. Key responsibilities include direct student interaction, preventive maintenance, and repairs ranging from minor to major on training props within the assigned area. The role also serves as a safety evaluator during live fire training, recognizes health risks, utilizes appropriate PPE, and conducts risk analysis. Additionally, the Training Support Technician I tracks and reports consumable usage for Industrial Program training deliveries, ensuring timely submission to designated parties.

This position reports to the Training Support Foreman.

Qualifications of the Role

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • One year of maintenance or construction repair-related experience.

  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

  • Must be able to obtain certification from TEEX for operation in Forklift, Material Handler, and Man-Lift.

  • Must be able to obtain and hold CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

  • Must be able to obtain and hold an Online Skills Evaluation certification.

  • Must be able to obtain NFPA 470 Online Awareness and Operations.

  • Must be able to obtain Texas Railroad Commission certification for DOT Cylinder Filler.

  • Must be able to obtain Texas Railroad Commission certification for Service and Installation.

  • Must be able to obtain NFPA 1081 Exterior w/ ProBoard certification.

  • Must be able to obtain NFPA 1081 Interior w/ ProBoard certification.

Equivalency: Will consider an undergraduate degree with no prior experience.
