Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Software Engineer III to support the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) and Navy Training Baseline (NTB) product suite. This individual will support the design, development, integration, and sustainment of mission-critical modeling and simulation software that enables Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Fleet training environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong Java development experience, thrive in Linux-based environments, and have a passion for building scalable software solutions that support Navy readiness and training objectives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain Java-based software applications and distributed simulation systems. -Enhance and sustain Navy Training Baseline (NTB) products including JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, and ATD. -Develop software solutions within Red Hat Linux environments using Java, JavaScript, shell scripting, and modern development tools. -Support integration efforts across distributed modeling and simulation architectures. -Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, technical leads, and Navy stakeholders to implement operational requirements. -Troubleshoot software defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. -Apply modeling and simulation protocols such as TENA, HLA, and DIS to support interoperable training systems. -Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and Agile development activities. -Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and software implementation artifacts. -Utilize Git and software configuration management processes to support development and release activities. -Ensure software solutions meet cybersecurity requirements, secure coding standards, and NCTE architecture guidelines. -Support system testing, deployments, and software sustainment efforts across the NCTE enterprise. -Assist with proposal support, technical briefings, and engineering documentation as needed. -Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts and adoption of software engineering best practices.

Compensation: $40-50/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.

-5+ years of software engineering experience -Strong Java development experience -Experience working in Linux/Red Hat environments -Object-oriented programming (OOP) experience -Experience building, debugging, and maintaining software applications -Experience with multithreaded development -Experience using Git for source control -Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills -Ability to work in a team environment -Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance -Modeling & Simulation (M&S) experience -TENA, HLA, or DIS experience -Navy or DoD program experience -JavaScript experience (ExtJS or Vue.js) -Agile development experience -Jenkins, SonarQube, or CI/CD experience -JUnit testing experience -Shell scripting experience -C/C++ experience -DISA STIG or secure coding experience
