Job Title: ITAD Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on hands-on work with electronic equipment in a secure IT asset disposition (ITAD) area within a warehouse environment. You inspect, clean, test, and prepare laptops and other electronic goods according to established procedures, while accurately tracking inventory and following detailed instructions and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with a variety of electronic goods, including laptops and related equipment.

  • Perform visual inspection of incoming electronic goods to identify damage, defects, or missing components.

  • Clean laptops and electronic equipment to prepare them for testing and further processing.

  • Test products, cords, and plugs to verify functionality and safety according to provided procedures.

  • Inspect cords, plugs, and related components for wear, damage, and proper operation.

  • Carry out data wiping on devices following provided instructions and established processes.

  • Diagnose hardware and basic software issues on laptops and other electronic devices.

  • Perform imaging of devices as directed, ensuring correct configuration and setup.

  • Sort and inspect boxes of product, ensuring items are correctly categorized and handled.

  • Set up devices according to detailed instructions, including configuration and basic installation steps.

  • Power on electronic goods and perform functional tests as specified in testing protocols.

  • Review pick sheets and order sheets to understand work requirements and product handling needs.

  • Track product and inventory accurately using logs and systems provided.

  • Use computers to log information, update inventory records, and follow digital work instructions.

  • Log and track inventory and parts on paper or electronic logs to maintain accurate records.

  • Handle warehouse-related tasks such as picking items and moving products as needed within the ITAD area.

  • Use equipment such as RF scanners and pallet jacks to support inventory and material handling activities.

  • Follow all security, safety, and handling procedures in the closed-off ITAD section of the warehouse.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working in a warehouse environment with tasks such as picking, loading, unloading, and inventory handling.

  • Ability to use RF scanners for picking and tracking inventory.

  • Experience operating pallet jacks for moving products within a warehouse.

  • Comfort using devices such as iPads and smartphones to follow instructions and record information.

  • Hands-on experience with electronics, including basic repair and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to diagnose hardware and simple software issues on laptops and electronic devices.

  • Experience with laptop repair, including inspection, cleaning, and basic component checks.

  • Capability to follow detailed instructions for testing, data wiping, and imaging of electronic devices.

  • Basic computer literacy for logging data, viewing pick sheets, and tracking inventory.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Skills in electronics repair or refurbishment is beneficial.

  • Familiarity with warehouse inventory systems and logging processes is an advantage.

  • Comfort working in a secure, closed-off section of a warehouse.

  • Ability to read and follow pick sheets and order sheets accurately.

  • Attention to detail when inspecting, testing, and documenting electronic products.

Work Environment

The role follows defined shift hours, including options such as an afternoon-to-late evening schedule. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CAROL STREAM, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
