Description
Reporting to the Director of Program Operations, the Manager, Data Operations leads a multidisciplinary team of Business Intelligence professionals, IT Systems Analysts, IT Architects, and Product Managers responsible for delivering enterprise data, reporting, analytics, and self-service solutions that support UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine.
This leader will foster a culture of data-informed decision-making by advancing the effective use of analytics across the organization and driving the prioritization, development, and delivery of high-impact initiatives that improve operational efficiency, support organizational growth, and enhance customer outcomes.
The Manager partners closely with operational, clinical, financial, and technical stakeholders, including UCLA Health and DGSOM Finance teams, distributed analytics teams, application teams, Epic Technical Services, super users, training teams, UHIT support, and executive leadership. Through these partnerships, the Manager ensures data, reporting, analytics tools, and insights are delivered effectively, aligned with organizational priorities, and supported by established service level expectations.
A deep understanding of Epic Cogito, healthcare analytics best practices, and enterprise reporting strategies is essential. The Manager will oversee the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of reporting and analytics solutions while ensuring users have access to the tools and resources needed to derive meaningful business value from data.
In addition, this role is responsible for cultivating strong customer relationships, identifying business needs, and aligning those needs with current and future Office of Health Informatics and Analytics (OHIA) products and services. The Manager will champion the adoption of OHIA solutions, promote data literacy and self-service analytics capabilities, and collaborate on the development of communications, educational resources, and marketing materials that increase awareness and utilization of OHIA offerings throughout UCLA Health.

Lead and develop a high-performing team of analytics and technology professionals.

Establish and execute the strategic vision for enterprise reporting, analytics, and data operations.

Prioritize and oversee analytics initiatives that drive measurable business and operational outcomes.

Partner with stakeholders across UCLA Health and DGSOM to understand needs and deliver scalable, data-driven solutions.

Drive adoption of Epic Cogito and other enterprise analytics platforms through best practices and governance.

Promote self-service analytics, data literacy, and responsible use of organizational data.

Ensure reporting and analytics services meet established service levels, quality standards, and customer expectations.

Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on analytics strategy, opportunities, and emerging trends.

This position plays a critical leadership role in transforming data into actionable insights that support patient care, academic medicine, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making across UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine.
Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $132,300.00 - $307,100.00 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and midpoint of this range.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of Healthcare experience required
-
Previous experience managing analytics or reporting services functions and teams in a healthcare environment

Leadership and managerial track record
-
Clarity Data Model Certification (Preferred)
-
Leadership in Project management and process track record
-
Experience in gathering, documenting, prioritizing and tracking requirements
-
Extensive knowledge of best practices regarding reporting, workflows, policies, procedures, systems and culture in the healthcare environment required

Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data structures and reporting required
-
Senior-level knowledge of SAP Business Objects, Tableau, and Power BI architecture, functions, features, and capabilities

Understanding of SQL as well as relational and multidimensional designs

Strong SQL programming skills, particularly Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
-
Strong understanding of relational and dimensional modeling, data mining, and ETL design processes

Expertise in database architecture, storage, and Query Optimizer

High functioning team skills, including active listening, rapport building, effective written & verbal communication, receiving and delegating work assignments

Strong problem-solving and metadata skills Strong interpersonal and communications skills
