Location: Farmingdale, NY Category: The Research Foundation Job Type: Contract Posted On: Mon Oct 19 2026 Job Description:

University in the High School (UHS) at Farmingdale State College, through the Research Foundation for SUNY, seeks qualified individuals to serve as Faculty Liaisons in designated academic disciplines.

The Faculty Liaison serves as a subject-matter resource and provides academic and curricular oversight for UHS courses within their assigned discipline. The position helps ensure that courses offered through the UHS program maintain academic content, rigor, assessment practices, and expectations comparable to corresponding courses offered at Farmingdale State College.

Working collaboratively with UHS leadership, academic departments, and UHS instructors, the Faculty Liaison supports course and instructor review, curriculum alignment, instructor training and professional development, and ongoing assessment of UHS course offerings.

The required work may include one or more of the following activities:

Course Trainings - Synchronous and/or Asynchronous

Provide new UHS instructors with course-specific training in course philosophy, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. Provide sample syllabi, assessments, and other resources used in on-campus sections of the course.

Site Visits - Virtual and/or In-Person

Conduct site visits to connect with UHS instructors, observe course content, and student discourse and rapport. Identify and address any issues with the instructor and provide guidance to ensure realignment.

Professional Development (PD) - Virtual and/or In-Person

Develop and host PD sessions for UHS instructors. The purpose of annual PD is to encourage ongoing collegial interaction to enhance instructors' pedagogy and breadth of knowledge in the discipline.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Curriculum Review

Review a high school's provided CTE curriculum documents, provide suggestions to strengthen their program, and answer any questions provided. There may also be a virtual meeting to attend to deliver this feedback to the school and/or New York State (NYS) Review Board.

Syllabi, Course Materials, and Assessment Review and Collection

Collect and review syllabi, course materials, and assessments, to ensure alignment. Identify and address any issues with the UHS instructor and provide guidance to ensure realignment.

Curriculum Design and Development

Meet with interested high schools to identify their course needs and options. Review any established curriculum, equipment, and materials to provide the best outline for course adoption. Conduct follow up meetings, as necessary, to help implement the developed curriculum. Provide sample syllabi, assessments, and other resources used in on-campus sections of the course if they have not already been submitted to the UHS Office.

Guest Lectures

Develop and deliver specialized lectures at approved high schools sections or on-campus if a high school can provide transportation to FSC. These lectures should include at least one of the following: (1) greater in-depth knowledge and expertise on a topic recently covered in their classroom (2) new and exciting innovations or developments in their field of study (3) potential degree and career options within their field of study (4) how their courses can be applied to the major at FSC.

Work with the instructor and UHS Office to determine what will be covered in the lecture.

Special Projects

Special projects may include small hour-based projects to enhance UHS students' exposure to FSC or strengthen the partnership with the high school:

  • Advisory Board Meetings

  • Portfolio Reviews

  • Competition Judging

The UHS Office will provide the corresponding document template for each activity. These documents must be filled out to show proof that the work has been conducted. If the necessary documents are not submitted to the UHS Office by the stated deadline, payment will be forfeited. The deadline for document submission mirrors the on-campus grading deadline for the semester.
