To learn more about our agency, please visit our website. Five years of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus two years of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services; OR

An advanced degree in a social sciences field, nursing, public health; public, hospital, or health administration; speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders; physical, occupational, recreational, or music therapy plus one year of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties: As Community Service Professional 2, the incumbent will support clinical operations by:

  • Receiving/screening inquires/calls to persons contacting SCLHSA Developmental Disabilities requesting assistance; determine the need for support services by initiating appropriate disposition for assistance to the person.
  • Conducting interviews to determine initial and continued eligibility for persons who request services in the Developmental Disabilities Service system and Flexible Family Funds.
  • Determining initial and continued eligibility for children who have been assigned slots for Flexible Family Funds program and ensure ongoing monitoring of eligibility for children receiving Flexible Family Funds benefits maintain their eligibility on a quarterly basis.
  • Outlining appropriate specialized services for program participants based on assessments using the ICAP assessment tool and other pertinent data gathered during interview with program applicant/participant.
  • Creating and maintaining a resource list of community resources, advocacy organizations and provider agencies based within SCLHSA area that are available for referrals for supports for individuals. Continue to become knowledgeable of community resources available for referrals for supports for individual needs.

Position-Specific Details: Location: This position is located at SCLHSA's Developmental Disabilities Office, located in Houma, LA. Appointment Type: Probationary Appointment Compensation: The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
