Business Strategy Principal – HP Solutions Strategy Description - The Opportunity

Join HP’s high-impact, high-visibility HP Solutions Strategy team and help shape the future of HP Solutions across video collaboration, headsets and emerging growth areas. This team partners closely with senior HPS leaders to define long-term direction, medium-term strategic priorities, and near-term business choices that influence portfolio strategy, planning, investment priorities, and growth opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly analytical, results-oriented strategy leader who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving complex business problems, and wants to make a visible impact at scale. In this role, you will help translate market, customer, technology, and financial insights into clear strategic choices—especially across collaboration, headsets, and integrated business planning.

You will work across executive leaders, GBU teams, finance, category, and cross-functional partners to develop insight-driven recommendations grounded in rigorous analysis and compelling strategic narratives. The role combines strategic problem solving with planning rigor, business case development, and executive support on high-priority deliverables including board and leadership reviews.

If you are energized by strategic problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and building what is next, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Collaboration strategy and integrated planning process annually, partnering with Collaboration business leaders, Finance, and category teams to shape long-range financial plans, strategic assumptions, investment priorities, and growth ambitions across the Collaboration portfolio.
  • Develop long-range strategic perspectives on the Collaboration market, including market structure, customer buying behavior, competitive dynamics, technology disruption, and emerging growth opportunities across professional headsets, video collaboration, voice, software, and services.
  • Shape the long-term Collaboration strategy by evaluating market opportunities, portfolio choices, investment priorities, and growth scenarios, helping guide decisions on where HP should expand, defend, partner, or selectively exit.
  • Build and maintain an outside-in view of the collaboration ecosystem, including unified communications platforms, workplace technology trends, channel evolution, and adjacent markets that may influence HP's long-term growth strategy.
  • Develop executive perspectives on competitive threats and opportunities across the Collaboration landscape and emerging collaboration providers.
  • Lead strategic assessments of emerging technologies and business models, including AI-enabled meeting experiences, intelligent audio and video solutions, workplace analytics, collaboration software, and hybrid-work platforms.
  • Serve as a thought leader on the future of collaboration, developing perspectives on how AI, workplace transformation, unified communications, and evolving work patterns will reshape customer needs and create new opportunities for HP over the next 3–5 years.
  • Partner with Finance to support investment sizing, capital allocation decisions, and business case development, ensuring recommendations are grounded in strategic rationale, financial rigor, and alignment with HPS priorities.
  • Evaluate growth opportunities, strategic partnerships, ecosystem investments, and technology collaborations that strengthen HP's position in the Collaboration market.
  • Drive alignment of long-term strategy across adjacent businesses, AI initiatives, peripherals, services, and workplace solutions to ensure a cohesive view of future growth opportunities.
  • Develop market-sizing models, growth forecasts, scenario analyses, and strategic trade-off assessments to inform business planning and leadership decision-making.
  • Support executive-level strategy deliverables, including Board, FIT, ELT, and other leadership reviews, bringing a clear point of view on market trends, competitive positioning, investment priorities, and long-term growth opportunities within Collaboration.
  • Partner with Corporate Strategy and cross-functional stakeholders on enterprise-wide initiatives related to portfolio management, growth strategy, ecosystem development, strategic partnerships, and long-range planning.
  • Structure analytical approaches, project plans, and executive-ready narratives to address complex and ambiguous business challenges with speed, rigor, and strong strategic thinking.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable recommendations and follow-through plans, helping connect long-term strategy, annual planning, investment decisions, and business execution.
  • Contribute to team development by identifying growth opportunities, assigning stretch work that builds strategic capability, and connecting team members with mentors and coaches to support their long-term career aspirations.

Education and Experience

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or another related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically 8–10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, business strategy, management consulting, product strategy, product management, platform strategy or a related field.
  • Experience in top-tier consulting, corporate strategy, or a technology/product organization with strong analytical rigor, a similarly rigorous strategy environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience developing strategic recommendations, long-range plans, business cases, and executive communications for senior leaders.
  • Experience working in technology, hardware, semiconductor, video collaboration, camera, AI or adjacent industries is strongly preferred.
  • MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.

Salary

The pay range for this role is $130,700 to $205,200 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
