Responsibilities

Coordinates and assists with assigning activities to Support Technicians and providing instruction and training of clinical support personnel within the surgery environment during an assigned shift. Works as part of the surgery team to support operations in the overall delivery of care in the Operating Room. This role is directly accountable to ensure clinical support staff provide timely room turnover, maintain environmental safety, secure and maintain (in good working order) various procedural equipment, gas cylinders and patient transfer devices. This role provides new hire training and assists in validation of competency in coordination with Surgical Services Administration and Education team, requiring knowledge of the Support Technician II role. Lead Support Technician II participates in the planning and development of relevant quality improvement and safety initiatives supporting pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Two years of directly related experience in a surgical setting.

  • Must be able to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to follow-up on information with staff members

  • Have excellent public contact skills-courteous, tactful, friendly; able to work well with others

  • Ability to organize workday and environment to get job done

  • Ability to handle multiple requests and work in a stressful environment

  • Maintain current BLS certification

PREFERRED

  • Certified Nursing Assistant

  • One or more years in Environmental Services in healthcare setting

  • Hospital experience.

Work Hours: 7AM-3PM Weekend Requirements: No On-Call Requirements: No
