The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.

THIS IS AN INTERNAL POSTING ONLY. TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor Is responsible for promoting the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in an assigned territory through presentations in schools and community organizations, as well as participation in festivals and conferences throughout the state. The Admissions Counselor assists the Assistant Director of Admissions with the management of assigned data and contacts In the application system. The Admissions Counselor will serve as the first line of communication between prospective students/families and the school. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Travel: Schedule and attend school visits in an assigned territory, along with community organizations, summer camps presentations.
  • Application Processing: Process application materials, assist families with the application process, communicate with prospective students and families throughout the application season.
  • Application System: Maintain student data through the school’s application system.
  • Conferences & Festivals: Attend conferences and festivals as assigned.
  • Support for Admissions Communications & Events: Support Admissions communications and events as required.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

  • A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (G Suite).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. Knowledge of basic principles and theories of admissions practices and educational administration. Knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures affecting enrollment and retention. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public. Ability to identify, develop and implement strategies, programs and activities that will benefit the campus community and increase enrollment. Must have a valid driver's license. This position requires extensive travel, including overnight travel. Must have your own vehicle for travel.

  • A bachelor's degree and work experience in a boarding school, high school, or collegiate environment.
  • Previous experience in admissions or student recruitment.
