Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

Join a Michigan-based medical device startup at the forefront of developing implantable MEMS technology aimed at managing congestive heart failure. This dynamic role involves full lifecycle product development, from concept creation to commercialization. Collaborate closely with diverse engineering teams to innovate and refine a cutting-edge medical device.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of next-generation implantable medical devices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Design and develop fixtures, laboratory equipment, and prototype test setups.

  • Troubleshoot product and system-level issues and drive engineering solutions.

  • Analyze performance data and provide recommendations for product improvements.

  • Support design iterations, product enhancements, and engineering investigations.

  • Create technical documentation, protocols, reports, and engineering records.

  • Assist with the development of automated tools and processes to improve product development efficiency.

  • Train team members on equipment, processes, and laboratory procedures as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.

  • 2+ years of engineering experience supporting product development, testing, or validation activities.

  • Experience working with electromechanical products or systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience using laboratory equipment, instrumentation, or custom engineering setups.

  • Ability to analyze technical data and identify root causes of performance issues.

  • SolidWorks experience for fixture, component, or prototype design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Medical device industry experience.

  • Experience developing new products in a regulated environment.

  • Exposure to products that combine mechanical, electrical, and software technologies.

  • Experience designing custom fixtures or prototype equipment.

  • Knowledge of LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or similar engineering tools.

  • Familiarity with FDA-regulated development and ISO environments.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines.

Work Environment

The work environment is highly collaborative, providing engineers with direct visibility into the product development process. The role involves working with various technologies and equipment, including SolidWorks and laboratory instrumentation. Expect a dynamic setting where innovation and teamwork are pivotal.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ypsilanti, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
