Accounting Analyst

Description We are looking for an Accounting Analyst to support a long-term contract opportunity. This position is ideal for an accounting specialist who can work independently, organize complex financial information, and resolve discrepancies with confidence. The role focuses on reconciliation, accounts payable support, and accurate documentation, with an emphasis on maintaining clean records and identifying outstanding items that require follow-up.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed bank and account reconciliations, including review of aged items and backlog cleanup across multiple reporting periods.

• Research variances, unmatched transactions, and timing differences, then take appropriate action to resolve or escalate issues.

• Process bills, bill credits, and payment applications within the accounting system while ensuring vendor balances are accurately maintained.

• Maintain thorough reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation so work can be reviewed and continued by other team members when needed.

• Use Excel to organize, analyze, and validate large volumes of financial data through lookups, pivot tables, sorting, and filtering.

• Review bank statement activity such as ACH transactions, wire activity, and remote deposits to ensure accurate posting and reconciliation.

• Follow established accounting procedures closely and identify records or transactions that do not align with expected results.

• Support general accounting operations related to accounts payable, billing, and account maintenance in a remote work environment. Requirements • At least 1 year of experience in accounting support, accounts payable, general accounting, or a related finance function.

• Prior hands-on experience with bank reconciliations or account reconciliation activities, including identifying and clearing exceptions.

• Strong Excel capabilities, including sorting, filtering, lookups, pivot tables, and working with large datasets.

• Understanding of accounts payable fundamentals, including open invoices, credits, payment application, and vendor account offsets.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing assignments accurately and on schedule.

• Clear written documentation skills with the ability to record work in a way that is easy for others to review and follow.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or comparable practical experience.

• Experience with NetSuite is preferred; background in insurance accounting is a plus.
