Full job description

Summary:

Meta is seeking an experienced intelligence leader for a full-time position on our dynamic Executive Protection team. This role is responsible for leading Meta's Protective Intelligence program — managing a global team of analysts and program leads responsible for protective intelligence analysis, travel and event risk assessment, and intelligence support to executive protection operations worldwide. The individual will own the analytic standards, tradecraft, and technology roadmap of the program, ensuring that risk to Meta's senior leaders and workforce is identified early, assessed rigorously, and communicated to decision makers with speed and precision. The global presence of Meta and the nature of Global Security operations require the Protective Intelligence team to operate on a 24/7 posture — managing relationships, collecting and analyzing relevant information, and communicating developing risk to stakeholders as needed. This individual must demonstrate analytical, strategic, interpersonal, and technical expertise, and must be able to institutionalize structured analytic techniques and structured professional judgment across the full protective intelligence lifecycle. Critically, they must possess a sophisticated and current understanding of the global risk landscape. They will be responsible for translating that understanding into intelligence products that are timely, decision-relevant, and calibrated to evolving threat vectors rather than static assumptions. The ideal candidate is an experienced program leader with a proven record of building and maturing analytic teams, and influencing regional and global teams. They are a team-focused leader who has experience managing, motivating, and developing others, exercises sound discretion, and briefs senior executives credibly and concisely in time-sensitive situations. This role is a critical part of the Global Security Executive Protection team and partners closely with Threat Management, Executive Protection operations, and non-security functions including Legal, Privacy, HR, and Employee Relations.

Required Skills:

Head of Protective Intelligence Responsibilities:

  1. Set a compelling vision and provide day-to-day leadership for the Protective Intelligence team, promoting a culture of analytic rigor, professionalism, and proactive risk mitigation in support of Meta's mission

  2. Lead a global team of protective intelligence analysts and program leads in assessing real-world threats and risks to Meta's senior leaders and workforce

  3. Own the quality, timeliness, and defensibility of the team's analytic production — risk assessments, protective intelligence reports, travel and event risk assessments, and pre-event advance intelligence support

  4. Institutionalize structured analytic techniques and professional judgment across the full protective intelligence lifecycle, ensuring that assessments are methodologically consistent, documented, and repeatable

  5. Deliver protective intelligence briefings to executives, Global Security leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders, distilling complex analysis into clear, decision-oriented guidance

  6. Partner with Threat Management to ensure seamless escalation, handoff, and joint management of cases with potential for harm, with clear ownership boundaries and shared standards of practice

  7. Advocate the adoption of industry-leading technologies and methodologies

  8. drive the protective intelligence technology roadmap in partnership with engineering to build and scale risk-assessment tooling that measurably improves stakeholder safety

  9. Serve as a senior escalation resource for emergent, time-sensitive threat activities, guiding the team through rapid threat assessment, dynamic decision-making, and timely stakeholder communication

  10. Gather and analyze program data to improve methodologies, tools, and techniques, enabling the team to scale and optimize operations

  11. establish and report on OKRs, KPIs, and service metrics

  12. Appropriately leverage resources, technology, information, and tactics in a manner that protects the reputation and minimizes risk

  13. Build and nurture productive relationships with cross-functional partners across Global Security, Threat Management, Legal, Privacy, HR, Employee Relations, Communications, and technology teams, and foster an environment of effective information sharing

  14. Drive a culture of privacy protection and rigorous data stewardship, ensuring that the team's collection, use, and retention practices are fully aligned to company policy, applicable law, and global security best practices

  15. Recruit, develop, coach, and retain analytical talent

  16. provide meaningful professional development opportunities and build bench strength and succession depth within the team

  17. Drive a respectful team culture centered on open communication, sharing, listening, and recognition of all team members

  18. Manage program resources, including global hiring processes, vendor and information-provider relations, tools and systems management, and annual budget planning and execution

  19. Expand and maintain policies, standard operating procedures, and playbooks that align across Global Security, and develop a strong external network with law enforcement, industry peers, and professional security associations

  20. Maintain a flexible, non-standard work schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%) to regional and global offices and events

Minimum Qualifications:

  5. Proven track record of leading complex investigations and briefing leadership stakeholders on findings, implications, and next steps

  6. Proven track record of working within a global arena and influencing regional and global teams without direct authority

  7. Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and highly confidential matters with a high degree of discretion, professionalism, ethical integrity, and adherence to company procedures and Global Security best practices

  11. Proven effectiveness in written and verbal communication, with the ability to distill complex analysis based on the target audience
