Working closely with Supply Chain leadership, you will strengthen and modernize our purchasing organization, improve supplier performance, develop sourcing strategies, and ensure material availability in support of our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Order & Inventory Optimization: Prepare RFQs, analyze supplier proposals, and issue purchase orders using ERP/MRP data to understand demand and inventory levels. Proactively resolve material shortages and delivery issues.

Performance & Continuous Improvement: Monitor supplier metrics (on-time delivery, quality, cost) and collaborate with underperforming vendors on corrective action plans. Identify and execute measurable cost-reduction and process-modernization initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, and Quality teams to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of material to resolve material issues.

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and share best practices with other members of the Purchasing team.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing environment.

Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading, managing, or mentoring others in a purchasing department role.

Technical Blueprint Reading: Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation.

Systems & Analytics: Strong experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems alongside advanced Excel skills to analyze pricing, lead times, and inventory trends.

Core Competencies: Exceptional negotiation, cross-functional relationship building, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities within assigned authority.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of purchasing experience within an industrial equipment, heavy machinery, electrical, or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.

Experience purchasing mechanical, electrical, fabricated, machined products.

A proven history of achieving measurable improvements in supplier cost, delivery, quality, or lead-time metrics.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Equivalent significant manufacturing purchasing experience will be considered in place of a degree.

Travel & Work Environment

Must be comfortable working within an active manufacturing environment and regularly interacting with personnel throughout the facility.

Occasional domestic and international travel to supplier locations may be required.

Compensation
