Full job description

Description About Us

At Gifthealth, we're revolutionizing the way people experience healthcare by simplifying the process of managing prescriptions and health services. Our mission is to provide a seamless, personalized, and efficient healthcare experience for all our customers. We're a dynamic, innovative, and customer-centric company dedicated to making a positive impact on people's lives.

Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to own whole reporting projects end to end, from an ambiguous ask through the model, the build, validation, and handoff, and set the semantic layer other developers build on. This position plays a key role in supporting the BI & Reporting department and reports to the Manager, BI & Reporting, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own whole reporting projects end to end across the pharmacy business lines and the pharmacy management system most fulfillment data comes from, from the ambiguous ask through the model, the build, validation, and handoff.
  • Own the semantic layer in LookML: explores, views, dimensions, and measures named the way the business talks, defined once, and reviewed like code, with dashboards pointing at dbt models rather than LookML derived tables and new dbt models built when a metric needs one.
  • Pin down metric definitions that have drifted across the business, write them where people can find them, and push the fix upstream into dbt rather than patching it in the BI layer.
  • Own dashboard migrations one by one, doing the archaeology on whether a dashboard is still used, what its numbers were supposed to mean, and which parts belong in the warehouse instead.
  • Own client-facing output that ships to manufacturers verbatim, working with account teams so the numbers reconcile, the labels are right, and internal caveats do not make it onto a client surface.
  • Build PHI reporting safely, treating masking policies, role-based access, and BAA obligations as part of the build rather than a compliance review at the end.

Qualifications Education: A degree is optional. We evaluate demonstrated capability, not credentials, so equivalent hands-on experience is fully acceptable. Experience: Typically 4 to 7 years of experience building business intelligence on a real platform, with production dashboards people depended on. This role has no direct reports, so no formal leadership or management experience is required, though mentoring teammates is expected. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Required:

  • Several years building BI on a real platform, with production dashboards people depended on. Looker and LookML is the strong signal; Power BI, Tableau, or Domo experience plus a genuine appetite for Looker also works.
  • SQL that goes past reporting queries: window functions, careful joins, and the instinct to check whether a join fanned out before publishing a number.
  • Data modeling skill: able to look at a wide table and say what the grain is, what is missing, and what the dashboard actually needs instead.
  • Visualization judgment: knows when a number is a number and when it needs a trend, without over-decorating.
  • Validates their own work: reconciles against a source, checks the edges, and can say out loud how confident they are.
  • Able to sit with an operations lead or an account manager, hear a vague ask, and come back with the question they actually meant.
  • Mentors without being asked; in this role, unblocking a teammate counts as much as shipping.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data, PHI, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong communication and data-driven decision-making skills.

Preferred:

  • Healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated-data experience, including PHI, HIPAA, and BAAs.
  • dbt experience; comfortable opening a pull request rather than a ticket when a model is wrong.
  • Snowflake or another cloud warehouse in production, ideally with experience through a migration.
  • Git-based BI development: version control, code review, environments, and promotion.
  • Experience having migrated a BI platform before, including knowing how much of the old one turns out to be unused.
