Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an Software Engineer. The position will be responsible for the following but not limited too:

This position is remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications using modern frameworks like Spring Boot.

  • Lead or contribute to the design and architecture of modular, scalable systems.

  • Develop robust APIs and integrate distributed components in a microservices environment.

  • Conduct unit, integration, and functional testing to ensure high-quality code.

  • Support vulnerability remediation and ensure systems meet cybersecurity compliance standards.

  • Troubleshoot complex issues across multiple systems and environments.

  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers as needed.

  • Produce clear and concise technical documentation and support materials.

Technical Skills

  • Programming & Frameworks:

  • Strong experience with Java, object-oriented design, and Spring Boot.

  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and service-oriented architectures.

  • Databases:

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Oracle RBDMS and MongoDB databases

  • Web & APIs:

  • Deep understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, WebSocket, CSS).

  • Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs.

  • Development Tools & Environments:

  • Comfortable working in Linux environments and using command-line tools.

  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and code reviews.

  • Proficiency with build tools like Maven.

  • DevOps & Cloud Exposure:

  • Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or AWS.

Qualifications

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD

  • Cybersecurity workforce certification AIM/IAT Level II (e.g., Security+, CASP+)

  • Active Public Trust Clearance

  • Experience with Java-based enterprise applications using modern frameworks like Spring Boot.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Angular or other front-end frameworks.

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud, especially in a government environment.

  • Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals or interest in learning.

  • Awareness of prompt engineering concepts for LLM applications.

  • Ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices.

Target Salary Range $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
