Job Description Summary:

Job Profile Summary

The Materials Resource Coordinator position plays a critical role in hospital operations by ensuring the reliability and availability of supplies and equipment that directly impact patient care outcomes. This role manages high-volume procurement and inventory processes while proactively resolving equipment and supply issues to minimize clinical disruptions. The position contributes to operational efficiency, cost control, regulatory compliance, and patient safety in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment

Responsibilities And Duties:

30% Equipment & System Management

Maintains safe, clean physical environment while adhering to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Functions as liaison between departments, vendors, Facilities Engineering, and Clinical Engineering. Maintains equipment inventory. Coordinates equipment servicing and new product/equipment in-servicing. Supports high-acuity environments by responding quickly to urgent supply and equipment needs. Assembles and installs new equipment according to manufacturer specifications. Performs routine maintenance coordination, overhaul, and repair follow-up to restore equipment functionality. Assists with development, implementation, and monitoring systems supporting hospital-wide compliance with regulatory standards.

25% Financial Management

Evaluates requests for equipment and/or supplies. Conducts cost benefit analysis and prepares purchasing justification reports. Maintains department and pre-hospital supply inventories. Monitors usage trends and adjusts ordering practices to improve efficiency and cost control. Identifies cost savings opportunities and supports cost containment and standardization programs.

25% Purchasing

Manages purchasing and replenishment of essential medical supplies and equipment across departments. Acts as liaison between clinical staff, vendors, and support teams to ensure timely delivery and functionality of resources. Develops partnerships and ongoing communication with vendors. Participates in negotiations with vendors. Attends meetings concerning cost containment and standardization initiatives.

20% Supply Management

Maintains supply inventory, orders supplies, evaluates requests, and conducts cost benefit analysis. Establishes and implements cost containment and standardization programs. Effectively communicates with department leaders to problem solve and maintain equipment and supply needs. Maintains inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted patient care while minimizing waste and excess cost. Monitors usage trends and adjusts inventory practices accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)
