At Academy Sports + Outdoors our vision is to be the best sports + outdoors retailer in the country — but what truly sets us apart is our people. We’re a passionate, purpose-driven team that’s as committed to each other as we are to our customers.
We’ve spent over 80 years building a culture that puts people first. We believe in creating opportunities for growth, fostering meaningful connections, and supporting every Team Member’s journey. What fuels us? Our belief in the power of fun.

What You Will Work On
In this role, you support license and permit compliance that keeps stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices ready to operate within applicable local and state requirements. Your work helps business partners stay ahead of operational licensing needs, registration requirements, renewals, bond activity, and agency follow-up. By keeping license and permit matters organized, researched, and tracked, you help the Compliance function reduce risk and keep operational requests moving with accuracy.
You coordinate license and permit work from research through resolution across business licenses, product licenses, special event permits, temporary overstock containers, store construction trailers, marketing banners, bonds, renewals, invoices, and payment records. You research requirements, processes, policies, and procedures; identify business needs; recommend effective resolutions; and support compliance with applicable local and state requirements.
You also facilitate bond requests, applications, renewals, and releases; manage invoices and payment records; follow up with agencies on pricing or payment issues; and maintain accurate tracking in License Pro and iManage. This work involves building relationships with outside vendors and government agencies, partnering with internal teams, and applying initiative, discretion, company policies, procedures, and safety rules with minimal supervision.
Who You Will Work With
You work with the Compliance Manager, internal teams, outside vendors, government agencies, store partners, distribution center partners, corporate office partners, and business stakeholders connected to special events, store requests, and building or remodel timelines. The role depends on clear follow-through and sound judgment because license and permit work often requires timely coordination across agencies, locations, payments, and operational deadlines.
As requests move from research to application, renewal, tracking, payment, and resolution, you help connect the right information to the right partners while maintaining accurate records and practical compliance support.
