Duties

  • If selected at the GS-09 or GS-10 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.
  • Reviews DLA Installation Management Susquehanna designed projects for constructability and suggest improvements which result in savings or improved efficiency.
  • Approves contractor's construction schedules and quality control procedures.
  • Observes and investigates construction at all stages to identify problems, such as unauthorized deviations from approved plans and specifications.
  • Takes timely action to change designs or recommend changes to designer to solve problems such as unusual foundation conditions.
  • Suggests and advises on the acceptability of alternative constructions methods.
  • Monitors contract construction operations at one or more work sites possibly involving more than one contractor depending upon the size and scope of projects assigned.
  • Documents contract compliance and keeps an organized record of communication with contractors.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Construction Control Inspector, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-10 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-11: Reviewing designed projects for constructability and suggesting improvements which result in savings or improved efficiency, inspecting contractor work, scheduling surveys, adjusting designs as needed, and planning work to be done. GS-10: Reviewing designed projects for constructability and suggesting improvements which result in savings or improved efficiency, inspecting contractor work, scheduling surveys, adjusting designs as needed, and planning work to be done. GS-09: Reviewing designed projects for constructability and suggesting improvements which result in savings or improved efficiency, inspecting contractor work, and planning work to be done. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: Work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Will require lifting of moderately heavy items, such as ladders and manhole lids. This requires above average agility and dexterity. Work Environment: The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions such as working around moving parts, machines; adverse weather conditions; or active construction sites and/or exposure to irritant chemicals. Employee is required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection and/or gloves.

The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.
