ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES

Nestled in Bronx Community Board 4, Franz Sigel Park, Joyce Kilmer Park, Macombs Dam Park, Mill Pond Park, and Reverend T. Wendell Foster Park form a gateway to the Concourse, Melrose and South Bronx areas of The Bronx. In the coming years, new parks will be developed in the Lower Concourse Area.

Major Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Lower Concourse Administrator, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, coordinate and execute a diverse portfolio of events (including many recurring programs) for engaging the public, securing program vendors/providers, obtaining required NYC Parks and citywide permits, developing events, ensuring pre-event site preparation by district Maintenance and Operations Division staff and day of event execution.

  • Manage large scale events and festivals, co-sponsored by Parks but led by outside partners, as well as festivals put on by other divisions within NYC Parks. Ensure all approvals, layouts, event components, and site logistics are addressed in advanced and day of-event execution is successful.

  • Execute an external engagement plan for promoting Parks produced events and goals, including posting events on the Parks website, and coordinating meetings with partner groups and other Parks divisions. Provide general promotion support to the Administrator including tabling at Parks or partner events and attending community meetings among others.

  • Submit data for Let’s Green NYC, create calendar invites to notify the Parks team of upcoming events in the park, submit Special Events Permit Application for Parks Produced events

  • Oversee and coordinate volunteer projects, keep accurate records of volunteer activities, volunteer waivers, track volunteer supplies, equipment and keep updated inventory records.

  • Provide excellent customer service to the public in person, via email and on the phone, and assist with coordinating resolutions to issues requiring immediate attention with the Administrator.

  • Serve as liaison with the Purchasing and Accounting division and vendors.

  • Prepare purchase orders, set up and modify accounts, and update financial reports.

  • Support friends group needs with education and funding resources, Vital Parks tools, event items, etc.

  • Coordinate marketing support including creating materials, flyer distribution, merchandise, supplies, etc.

  • Provide general administrative support and assist with creating and managing databases.

Fees: Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee between $40.00 to $101.00 based on the salary range of title. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $104.50 background check fee.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Salary Min: $ 62,868.00

Salary Max: $ 97,593.00
