Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Java Full-Stack Developer to lead the hands-on modernization of a large-scale enterprise application. This individual will provide technical leadership while remaining highly involved in development, architecture, stack upgrades, integrations, security remediation, and production delivery. The ideal candidate is a strong Java/Spring Boot engineer with modern front-end experience who can own technical decisions, solve complex problems, mentor developers, and collaborate across business and technology teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, architecture guidance, design reviews, and engineering best practices within an Agile development team.
  • Design, develop, and modernize applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and REST APIs.
  • Build and support backend services, microservices, business logic, and enterprise integrations.
  • Lead application and technology-stack upgrades while ensuring system stability and production readiness.
  • Validate and troubleshoot integrations across DB2, MQ, FTP/email, identity services, secrets management, and container platforms.
  • Drive secure coding practices, vulnerability remediation, automated testing, TDD, peer code reviews, and CI/CD.
  • Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues and help drive them through resolution.
  • Coordinate deployments and releases while proactively identifying and managing technical risks.
  • Mentor engineers and help establish consistent development standards across the team.
  • Partner closely with product, business, security, infrastructure, database, mainframe, and platform teams to deliver key priorities.

Skills and Requirements

  • 7+ years of enterprise Java development experience, including Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC.
  • 3+ years of experience developing REST APIs, microservices, backend services, and enterprise integrations.
  • Full-stack development experience with Angular
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience working with cloud environments and container platforms such as OpenShift and/or Kubernetes
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Test-Driven Development
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0/OIDC, Spring Security, secrets management, messaging, and secure engineering practices.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with development.
  • Experience independently owning technical deliverables from design through production.
  • Experience with DB2 and MQ.
  • Strong mentoring, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience within healthcare, enrollment, eligibility, or another highly regulated enterprise environment.
  • Experience modernizing legacy Java applications.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring and SRE/DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with or leveraging generative AI development tools.
  • Experience operating within SOX, HIPAA, or similar security, compliance, and audit controls.
